Now in its second year, Lake Cares Food Pantry in Mount Dora, FL has established itself as a strategic resource to support the needs of hungry families that have been hit by unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances. While all communities have been affected by the nation’s economic crisis, Lake Cares Food Pantry has seen a dramatic increase in clientele from an average of 15 to 20 families per Saturday to 45 to 55 families. An additional food distribution day was added on Wednesdays to better serve the needs of our seniors and persons with disabilities. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, by appointment, clients may receive assistance with on-line applications for SNAP (food stamp program.)
There are many people out there who can’t afford their rent, phone bill, electric bill, or even health care. Often these individuals will sacrifice a meal to pay these bills. Struggling to make ends meet is not just difficult economically, but psychologically as well. At Lake Cares we know that the emotional impact is tremendous and we offer a caring hand and heart to all who seek our assistance.
Our Mission
A Lake County need-based organization whose goal is to feed the body, educate the mind and lift the spirit of all individuals. We accomplish this with a dynamic group of volunteers who source donations, package nutritious food to stretch a family’s food supply and distribute that food to qualifying residents in the City of Mount Dora and surrounding communities.
