As demand increases and pantries spend more on food, a dearth of donations compounds the problem. "Lake Cares Food Pantry has been spending much more per week on provisions that it did not anticipate needing when it opened its doors on April 4th, 2009" said Debra Paradis, founder and President. As that weekly deficit is addressed over the course of a year we project a major shortfall in resources to keep the Pantry afloat.
Across the state, summer is usually a slow time for food pantries that depend on school fundraisers and organizations that are most active in the winter to help stock their shelves. Furthermore, because of economic conditions we anticipate reduced donations throughout the entire year. To compensate for the downturn in donations, Lake Cares works hard on community outreach and partners with other organizations in order to continue to serve the community. With a staggering increase in demand for food, we remain in need of even more food and monetary donations. Yet, there are other ways that you can provide help. For intstance, there is always a need for fresh produce. If you grow vegetables or fruit, please consider sharing them with those who seek assistance from us to provide their families with healthy and nutritious food. The Lake Cares Food Pantry needs your help; your donations and volunteer support are essential to the strategic services we provide. Donations can be mailed or brought to: Lake Cares Food Pantry 2001 W. Old Highway 441, Suite #1 Mount Dora, FL 32757
